Farewell to the West (Burning Light Mix)

by Asmodeus X

/

about

Inspired by the burning of Notre Dame Cathedral on April 15 2019.

When my old friend and producer John Michaels heard the track, it was immediately one wanted to work with. He soon put us in touch with Dan Niedziejko of Milwaukee Prog-Rockers, Sleepersound to provide the excellent acoustic drums. Our friend Erin Powell from Dallas TX neofolk legends Awen helped establish the final mood with a reading from Julius Evola:

"The blood of heroes is closer to the Lord than the ink of scholars and the prayers of the pious."

lyrics

One Winter's night,
I looked into the sky
Within the silence,
I heard the angel cry
You keep on looking out
for something that you missed
Something to prove
that you ever did exist

Farewell to the West

I wandered far and wide
Through pyramids of mind
upon the Seine
Notre Dame's a burning light
I saw the young men
Full of life and live and price
I saw the fighting still
When all the hope had died.
